The childhood home of Thomas Jefferson, Tuckahoe Plantation was built in 1712 on a bluff above the James River valley. Today, the scenic Plantation hosts events such as weddings and parties, and is a popular destination for tourists, who get to see the schoolhouse where Jefferson learned to read and write, along with other historical delights. It is located in the western region of Richmond, near the Richmond Country Club.
Grounds open Mon. - Sat. 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; Sun. noon - 5:00 p.m. Tours available by appointment only.
