Incorporating actual historical sites and items, the Valentine Richmond History Center explores the past of this grand Southern city in a way nowhere else can. Tour the 1812 Wickham House, an opulent Federal-styled home via an educational and fascinating guided tour. See the Edward V. Valentine Sculpture Studio and marvel at some of the incredible sculptures created by the man who designed the Robert E. Lee Chapel in Washington and the Thomas Jefferson statue that is part of the marvelous Jefferson Hotel. In total, the collections of items at the center runs close to a million different pieces, and while only a fraction of these are displayed at any time, that is more than enough to learn a great deal about the history of Richmond. Located near The Museum of the Confederacy and the Virginia State Capitol, the museum is right in the heart of the city.
